“Waabishki Maang” 20x20

Waabishki Maang is an Acrylic Canvas with Beadwork piece. The beaded white loon incorporates czech snd vintage Venetian beads from around the 1890’s-1920’s, and specialty beads including a mother of pearl heart. 20” x 20” canvas in a floating wooden frame. It is ready for gallery hanging. 
This piece did exhibit at Portage Center for the Arts this last winter. 
The white loon was influenced by a reported sighting in Canada a few years ago, and scenery elements are some of the beauty around my home here in Baraboo. The sunset was based off an actual sunset i caught here where the beams reminded me of the cartoon drawn sunsets, and i wanted to capture that with the acrylic in a vibrant way. Loons and their songs have always made me feel at home and placing the loon among the elements surrounding my new home just felt right to me. 
This piece has over 60 hours of work on the beaded section alone, with beads being attached sometimes 1 at a time!
